Golden Century Seafood Restaurant began in 1989 with humble beginnings. A small local Chinese restaurant in Sydney's Chinatown with seating for 180 guests, Golden Century has grown with more than a decade of perseverance and dedication to excellence. After two major expansions to the restaurant Golden Century is now one of the most prominent Chinese restaurants in Sydney. Now located on the vibrant strip of Chinatown on Sussex Street, the restaurant accommodates 600 guests over two levels as well as featuring private rooms for those seeking a more secluded and private dinning experience.
Open everyday of the year from 12 noon till 4am, Golden Century is a popular nightspot for traditional Chinese and exquisite Cantonese cuisine. The restaurant is renowned for its live seafood cooked by its master chefs, using the freshest and best quality ingredients. Golden Century has thrived in the buzzing and ever-exciting harbour city, the City of Sydney, and is grateful to its loyal customers who keep returning for more of the delicious and delightful dishes that are so characteristic of this restaurant.
Live seafood prepared and cooked in traditional Cantonese style has always been a specialty of the restaurant, served alongside more familiar meat, poultry and vegetable dishes. The Golden Century's diverse and extensive range of live seafood has to be seen to be believed. The selection of live lobster seafood varies depending on seasons, but is bound to include rock lobsters, king crabs, mud crabs, live prawns, green and black lip abalone, as well as an assortment of live fish. The seafood housed in an aquarium-like wall of fish tanks can be viewed from inside and outside the restaurant. The fish tanks have become a trademark of Golden Century, and never cease to amaze the young, and the young-at-heart.
Golden Century proud and honoured to have received both praise and commendations from a number of media sources and publications including seven Best Chinese Restaurant Awards, and numerous Chef's Hats from Sydney Morning Herald, as well as commendations from the Sydney Fish Markets and the Restaurant and Catering Association of NSW. The restaurant also received international exposure, with interviews, articles and television programs featuring Golden Century from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Germany, Italy and the USA promoting the exceptional food of Golden Century, and fresh produce of Australia.
